SMS Terms & Opt-In

The short version: ThreadLight never texts you first. You opt in by texting our number, +1 (844) 945-3103. You can opt out at any time by replying STOP. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies based on your conversation.
How You Opt In
ThreadLight's SMS program is a user-initiated service. We do not send unsolicited messages, marketing blasts, or promotional texts. There is no web form, no checkbox, and no pre-populated sign-up list.
You opt in to receive SMS messages from ThreadLight by sending a text message to +1 (844) 945-3103 from your own mobile device. By sending that first message, you are:
- Initiating contact with ThreadLight;
- Consenting to receive SMS replies from ThreadLight (sent by our AI assistant, Elia);
- Confirming that the phone number you are texting from belongs to you and that you are at least 18 years old.
Agreement to Our Terms
By texting +1 (844) 945-3103, you agree to ThreadLight's Terms of Service, these SMS Terms, and our Privacy Policy. Your first text is your acceptance of these agreements. If you do not agree, please do not text the number.
Our First Reply to You
The first message ThreadLight sends you in response will always include opt-out instructions and an age-verification prompt. The first reply reads:
If you reply NO, or do not confirm you are 18 or older, ThreadLight will not continue the conversation.
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies and depends on your conversation with Elia. ThreadLight is a two-way messaging service: Elia responds to what you send. You may also receive occasional follow-up messages asking how a peer connection or provider referral went, so we can improve future matches.
We do not send marketing messages, newsletters, or promotional content via SMS.
Message & Data Rates
Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. ThreadLight does not charge you directly for SMS messages, but your carrier's standard rates for text messages and data usage apply.
How to Opt Out
You can stop receiving messages from ThreadLight at any time by replying STOP to any message from us. Once you reply STOP:
- You will receive one final confirmation message acknowledging your opt-out;
- Elia will not send you any further messages;
- Your phone number is removed from our active messaging list.
If you change your mind, you can reply START at any time to resume the conversation.
Getting Help
Reply HELP to any ThreadLight message to receive a short reminder of what the service is, the phone number, and how to opt out. For anything else, email us at hello@threadlight.ai.
Supported Carriers
ThreadLight's SMS service works with all major U.S. carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and their associated MVNOs. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Privacy
Information you share with Elia over SMS is handled according to our Privacy Policy. We do not sell your phone number or message content. We do not share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes.
Age Requirement
ThreadLight is for users aged 18 and older. We confirm your age at the start of every new conversation. If you indicate that you are under 18, we will not continue the SMS conversation.
Not a Crisis Line
ThreadLight's SMS service is not a crisis line and is not a substitute for professional medical, mental health, or emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support, contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (call or text 988) or the Crisis Text Line (text HOME to 741741).
Changes to These Terms
We may update these SMS terms as the service evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify active users via SMS.
